CHILDREN'S PROGRAM & YOUTH ENRICHMENT
AJ Residence Children's Program & Youth Enrichment
A structured, caring place for children to learn, grow, and feel understood throughout the day
A structured, caring place for children to learn, grow, and feel understood throughout the day.
Some children need more than a standard school or daycare environment.
Some are still too young for school and need help building early routines.
Others come home from school overwhelmed, tired, or unsure how to express their day.
Families do their best, but many children with developmental disabilities need more structure, more patience, and a team that understands how to support their needs in a calm and consistent way.
AJ Residence Children's Program & Youth Enrichment was created for these children and for the families who care for them.
We provide both a day program for younger children and a structured after-school program for school-aged youth, giving families a reliable, supportive environment throughout the day.
Our program supports children with autism, intellectual disabilities, communication challenges, sensory needs, and other developmental differences.
Each part of the day is thoughtfully structured so children feel safe, understood, and encouraged.
Families often tell us the program brings more stability to their routines and more peace to their evenings.
What a Typical Day Looks Like
Each child's day depends on their age, schedule, and needs, but all children experience a structured, supportive environment designed to help them grow at their own pace.
For Younger Children (Day Program)
Children participate in a consistent daytime routine focused on early development and school readiness.
Activities may include:
- Communication and language development
- Sensory play and motor skill activities
- Early learning and structured play
- Music, movement, and guided interaction
- Daily routines that build independence
For School-Aged Youth (After-School Program)
Children arrive after school and are welcomed into a calm, organized environment where they can reset and transition into the afternoon.
Activities may include:
- IEP goals support and quiet academic time
- Social and emotional learning
- Arts, crafts, and creative expression
- Life skills such as simple cooking and organization
- Physical activity and structured play
- Small group interaction and communication practice
- Sensory breaks in a calming space
Staff guide children with patience and consistency, helping each afternoon feel steady, predictable, and supportive.
